Construction of the new westbound Maitland Boulevard (State Road 414) overpass at Interstate 4 (I-4) continues during the next couple weeks with the installation of bridge girders.

First, bridge girders for the new overpass will be placed over eastbound I-4. To provide a safe work zone for the operation, eastbound I-4 will be temporarily diverted through the Maitland Boulevard interchange. The detour is scheduled to take place from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on May 2-5. Traffic will exit I-4 to eastbound Maitland Boulevard (Exit 90A), cross over Maitland Boulevard and enter back onto eastbound I-4 using the existing on-ramp. Law enforcement officers will be present on Maitland Boulevard to facilitate traffic flow. A detour map is available online to download or view at:

The eastbound I-4 exit loop ramp to westbound Maitland Boulevard (Exit 90B) will be closed at the same time to accommodate bridge construction. Left turns onto westbound Maitland Boulevard from exit 90A will be permitted during the detour. A detour map is available online to download or view at:

Next, rolling roadblocks on westbound I-4 will create a 30-minute window for crews to place bridge beams over westbound I-4 for the new westbound Maitland Boulevard overpass. Westbound I-4 rolling roadblocks are scheduled between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. beginning Wednesday, May 10, until Thursday, May 11. The westbound I-4 rolling roadblocks begin at County Road (C.R.) 46A and will end at Maitland Boulevard. Multiple rolling roadblocks are scheduled to occur each night.

During the rolling roadblock operations, westbound I-4 entrance ramps between the C.R. 46A and Maitland Boulevard interchanges will be temporarily blocked. As the rolling roadblock passes each interchange, law enforcement officers will reopen its entrance ramp. In total, five westbound I-4 entrance ramps will be temporarily closed during the rolling roadblocks. View or download an online map of the temporary on-ramp closures at:

Modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work zone. Updates for these detours and rolling roadblocks will be available on
