A 12-hour closure of Kirkman Road (State Road 435) is needed for construction of a new pedestrian bridge over Kirkman Road near the Major Boulevard intersection.
Kirkman Road between Vineland Road and Major Boulevard will be closed from 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, until 7 a.m. on Monday, November 5. The westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) exit ramp to northbound Kirkman Road (Exit 75B) and one lane of Kirkman Road between I-4 and Major Boulevard will also be closed during the operation.
The exit ramp will be closed from 8 p.m. on November 4 and will reopen by 5 a.m. on November 5. One lane of northbound Kirkman Road between I-4 and Major Boulevard also will be closed from 7 p.m. on November 4 to 7 a.m. on November 5 to relocate equipment and materials.
The new bridge will make it safer for residents and visitors to walk or bike across Kirkman Road near the Major Boulevard intersection. The new bridge enhances safety and improves traffic flow by reducing the number of times vehicles on the busy Kirkman Road must come to halt to allow pedestrians to walk across traffic lanes.
View or download a handout that illustrates the 12-hour closure of Kirkman Road, including detour routes for motorists heading in either direction on Kirkman Road: fdot.tips/kirkped. An informative video about the new Kirkman Road pedestrian bridge is also available to view.
Modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work zone.
