Two well-traveled interchanges on Interstate 4 (I-4) shifted into new configurations that will help improve traffic flow and safety.
State Road (S.R.) 436 and Colonial Drive (S.R. 50) shifted into single-point urban interchanges, or SPUIs, in December 2020.
SPUIs allow opposing left-hand traffic movements to proceed simultaneously, controlled by a single traffic signal. This allows larger volumes of traffic to flow more safely and efficiently through the intersections.
