A new entrance ramp to eastbound Interstate 4 (I-4) from Garland Avenue is scheduled to open for the morning commute on Thursday, June 15.
Weather conditions may delay the opening. Up-to-date information of the ramp opening will be available on i4Ultimate.com/alertsmap.
The new ramp replaces the current loop ramp from eastbound Colonial Drive (State Road 50).
Shifting the ramp to its permanent location on Garland Avenue will smooth the traffic flow and mean changes for drivers. Instead of turning right from eastbound Colonial Drive onto the eastbound I-4 entrance ramp, motorists will need to turn left onto northbound Garland Avenue. Then take the left fork to enter the new eastbound I-4 entrance ramp.
Unlike the current ramp that only served eastbound Colonial Drive, the new ramp will provide access to eastbound I-4 from Garland Avenue and both directions of Colonial Drive. An illustration of the new ramp is available online at fdot.tips/SR50.
Modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work zone.
