The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is shifting State Road (S.R.) 436 traffic at the Interstate 4 (I-4) interchange to a new temporary configuration as soon as the morning of August 24, 2019.
The shift is the biggest yet to occur at the interchange. Motorists will travel on new S.R. 436 bridge decks north and south of the old lanes. New traffic patterns will be introduced as part of this transformation.
The temporary configuration is necessary to demolish the old S.R. 436 bridge over I-4 and continue constructing the new interchange. The configuration is expected to last for up to one year. Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling through the interchange and to not block intersections.
To accommodate the shift, all S.R. 436 interchange ramps will close as early as 10 p.m. on August 23. During this time, motorists also should anticipate alternating lane closures on both directions of S.R. 436 between Northlake Boulevard and Douglas Avenue as crews work to accomplish the shift by 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 24.
Additional information and resources for this shift are available to view, download or share at i4ultimate.com/436.
Modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work zone.
